Week 4 Of Mural.

So far so good, it is almost completed but there is still some major things to do. Sounds contradicting right? This visit to Fuchun primary was not reproductive as what we intended. As this is our school holidays (some holiday it turned out to be), only 3 of the group members turned up. Hopefully next week, we'll get perfect attendance and it'll be completed.

Blue Foam Week 2!

Stage 2 of my blue foam is to cut and shape the rectangular foam into the shape of a turtle's back. As seen from the picture above, it is quite tedious. Again, the weather is another negative factor that is affecting our progress. Our class seems to be working like factory workers but then again, there are those that are too tired so they take a nap. Oh well, hope it's a promising session next week.

Week 3 Mural!

Well, just as we planned. Week 3 was definately outstanding. The teamwork made our progress increased rapidly. I guess we just need 2 more weeks before we could finish the whole mural. Hopefully things work out. Oh well.

Blue Foam

This is another new 3d project! This time it is blue foam. Yes, it sounds cool! But hell no. It's a very messy project and it drains your strength cutting it and sticking it. As shown in the picture, I'm standing on the foam to make it stick with two layers. The foam are joined together by sticking it with an adhesive spray.

Week 2 Mural

Week 2 was pretty slow progress. Maybe it was due to the humid tormenting weather. However, we survived! We started by painting the flag poles grey and outlining the flags and also the figures below the flag. I don't think the group was satisfied with the work that we had done. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes. Hopefully, the 3rd week would be a promising and productive week for mural. Anyway, if you are wondering why the pictures are uploaded in a 'turn back time' way, it's because I want it that way! It's on purpose because I think it's a more creative manner to show our diligent work. Hahas..

Leaving The Legacy Behind

After a long week, C day's project of facial expression is done. The portraits are painted with only black and white paint.

Artist Statement

A photographer by the name of Ken Rockwell once said ‘An artist fixes his imagination in a tangible form called a photograph. He captures the spirit of place or person, real or imagined, in this photograph and the viewer responds to this.’

From young, I have been fascinated with images. It first started as a hobby but soon it grew into something that I would consider to be my passion. Photography tells a lot of things when the image is captured with a single click. I feel that a photograph tells me more than what most typical individual would think. However, it tells me a story and the mood of the source. To many, photography is very simple and boring, it doesn’t involve any hands on like painting or drawing. There is more than meets the eyes. The ambience is one of the key factors that play an important role of making the image a good piece of photography. Gradually over the years, photography has become popular. My favourite photography images would be seeing nature in digital eyes. It’s very sad to see Mother Nature being destroyed. Who knows one day the photography of nature would be priceless. I hope to capture these images, which in the future will be the past.

Clay Animal

This is another of my clay work. This time, a frog.

Painting

This was a project given to paint a particular part of LASALLE-SIA. For some reason, I have chosen the view with a tree.

Collage Of Living Room

This is a collage of my living room using several types of plastic. A marker and paint were also used to make the collage dense.

Mixed Media

This is a portrait which I have done using the most bizarre items like rice grain, mosquito coil, paint, white glue and news paper.

Pen Drawing

Just a figure drawing using pen.

Fast and furious

The beauty of camera's view. Unlike our naked eyes, this kind of image can be attained only with the use of a camera.

Emotions

Emotions play a vital role of setting a mood.

Nature

I have always love nature. Trust me, the view from the highest point in Genting is to die for. It was an unforgettable and breathtaking moment. Believe it or not, this picture was taken with a camera phone.

Wire Project

This is one of the group projects that I will never forget. We spend almost close to a month erecting this durian wire figure. During the process, many of us got minor cuts and bruises while twisting and cutting the wires. However, the final work was satisfying!

Mural Painting @ Fuchun Primary

Before any murals paintings began, we must always lay the old newspaper so that paint will not drip and mess the floor. (Any idiot will know that) Just a picture to show how considerate my group is. The walls are then taped to for indications of where to paint. The wall is approximately 8.2 meters and 3.5 meters height. Yes, it's a very big wall without any windows or doors for sympathy.

My Mural Design

Well before any paintings begin, there must be brainstorming and sketches to be done. As this is a group project, everyone had to do a few designs for the mural painting. This is one of the designs which I have chosen for the mural which I tried my best to incorporate National Education in an abstract artistic manner. The 5 arrows represent total defence while the 3 fingers on the right represents the decades Singapore had been through. The white and red face is an indication of us Singaporeans to play a part in sustaining Singapore's growth.

Oh Wow!

I came across this poster while I was on the way to work at Clarke Quay North East Line station. I think this is a very interesting poster where a poster is separated. A good marketing advertisement to attract consumers like us and also in a very outstanding manner. With this kind of posters, anyone rushing would at least glance at it. Oh well, this is just my 2 cents thought.

A day at the museum

A group picture taken with part of the class at the Singapore Art Museum
Yesterday the 5th of February, 3 of the fine arts foundation had a museum trip to the art museum. I guess for many, their presence was just for the sake of attendance and the boost of 5% for critical studies. This is mainly because of their stereo typed thinking as museum trips are boring. Well, for me, I feel that it's really an enjoyable trip to explore various medium and styles from the respective artists. Although it was only an hour, I picked up quite a number of useful ideas and notions. I wonder when is going to be our next museum trip. I guess if you are a museum fanatic like myself, you would probably want to check these website http://www.nhb.gov.sg/MCC .

First Charcoal Drawing

My very first charcoal drawing. Judging from the drawing, I really have to work hard on my drawing.

Monoprint Printmaking

Another of my print making work but this time its mono print.

Clay

Clay project. This was a very enjoyable but messy project. Many things can be created from just a slab of clay. It is like "Play-Do" Need I say more?

Sphere

This is one of the most challenging art projects I have to do. Firstly, the to form 3 cubes of different kind of materials; tracing paper, cardboard and ivory card. Secondly, the number of cubes that needed to erect the whole sphere was 286 cubes. That really slowed down the process of making a sphere and it took a long time. Lastly, the different ways of erecting the whole sphere. There was the steps method or the hollow method.

Print Making

After a long term of painting, our next journey was to explore printmaking. The theme of the printmaking was Singapore's local scene, so I have decided to choose a place that revolves around almost every typical Singaporean which was a void deck. Printmaking is a whole total opposite of painting. For me personally, it was a messy process. Too many tedious process like printing it layer by layer but the final result was outstanding with 5 layers. Both printmaking and painting holds the same virtue though, patience.

Frottage

This drawing assignment given was to draw an imaginary creature using different textures to shade. This imaginary creature is made up of 3 different animals; the duck for the legs, the flamingo for the head and a fish for the tails and fins. The textures that were used for the texture came from a basket, road, door and glass frames and coins. On the whole, this project was pleasantly enjoyable.

Seahorse

This is one drawing that I will never forget. It took me nearly four dreadful days to complete this drawing of the seahorse. We had to choose a random seahorse to identify the features and details of the particular seahorse using dots. It may seem as though this was a waste of time but eventually I find out that it came to my understanding that different size of the dots make the whole figure more realistic.

Crumpled Paper

This is one of the drawings I did for my weekly drawing class. I started by getting a blank white A4 paper for reference and started crumpling it. The crumpled lines were reference on deciding which tones was vital for making the flat piece of paper to look crumpled. Surprisingly, this took an hour to do.
